How can a clinical psychologist help?

While life inevitably provides us with challenges, at times these can become overwhelming or distressing, and it may be difficult to see a way forward or manage day-to-day.

Clinical psychologists are trained in helping clients to develop insight into their thinking, develop skills to build emotional resilience and manage psychological symptoms, alleviate difficult emotions such as distress, panic, and grief, improve relationships, and find fulfillment, meaning, and connectedness in their lives.

Specific personal and mental health issues that clinical psychologists may assist clients in addressing include:

  • depression
  • anxiety
  • trauma/PTSD
  • stress and coping difficulties
  • coping with health/medical problems and chronic illness
  • self-esteem and confidence issues
  • relationship difficulties and conflict resolution
  • workplace and career issues
  • grief and loss
  • personal development

Psychologists provide a safe, supportive, and confidential place in which clients can begin to explore their issues, heal, and grow.
